What is rockwool?

Rockwool comes from basalt, a black volcanic rock found in many regions of the world. The manufacturing process for rockwool is similar to the natural activity of a volcano. The volcanic rock melts in a heated coke oven at 1,460°C. The molten rock is then turned into fibres by wheels turning at high speed.
